Well, I think this little shovel is very good for what it was designed for........what's that you ask?
In my opinion, it's all about low profile, personal protection. Very handy to have close by in your vehicle for discouraging those pesky wanna-be unarmed carjackers, gangbangers and other assorted lowlifes. However I hear it also makes a dandy digging tool. Don't forget to buy the quick release velcro shovel cover.

Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel, The Special Forces Shovel is modeled after the original Soviet Spetsnaz shovel. The Spetsnaz were the Soviet army's most elite unit, renowned for their deadly efficiency. Trained to travel light, the Spetsnaz packed only the bare essentials. This included a unique shovel which had a broad flat blade and 3 sharp versatile edges. Cold Steel's shovel follows the Soviet design as faithfully as possible with newer improvements in the steel (twice as thick as the original) and heat treatment. Deep Scratches - Jeffrey -
This product was shipped to me with deep scratches on the metal part of the handle. This is very disappointing. Other than that it is what I expected.
Outstanding Little Shovel - D46500 -
This product can't be beat for the low price. The shovel is very compact, but strong & sturdy. It would make a vicious weapon, but is excellent just as a small, tough, easy-to-store shovel. When winter gets here it will be riding in the trunk of my car.

I have yet to use the shovel as a shovel, but it has worked well for splitting logs and resting by the front door in case a protecting device is needed.
